Authorial Intrusions

Abandon logic, all ye who enter here...

Once upon a time, back in the dark ages before home computers and the Internet, my friend and I created two characters -- sisters who looked nothing alike, and went through all the angst-filled stuff teens went through back in those dark ages. We quickly grew tired of writing such boring material went on to fun things.

But then I moved away, though we have kept in touch for decades. My friend, Linda, stopped writing about the Sangre sisters and went on to other characters. I did as well, but every few years I found myself resurrecting the two sisters. I remade them, refined them, and kept changing not only their personalities, but also what they did for a living. For a while they became private detectives, and then cops in LA, and finally police in Phoenix. (Some of these changes are even reflected in these later stories.)

Then I hit on the idea that they should be spies. Yes! Now that sounded like fun. But before I had even gotten half way through the first story it...warped on me.

The aliens arrived on the scene.

I tried to keep it somewhat serious. You can see seriousness trying to battle its way out in the first three parts of the book. It doesn't win. By part four I just gave up, and by the end of this anthology the stories have slipped far from reality into a crazy world all their own.

These stories are written for fun. They are satire, farce, and downright silly.

Welcome to the world of the Sangres. Enjoy yourselves.
